The Three Gorges Dam is a hydroelectric river dam that spans the Yangtze River Hubei, China.
It is the largest hydroelectric power station in the world.

Although the dam controls flooding, enhances navigation, and provides clean hydroelectricity, it has also flooded archaeological and cultural sites, displaced some 1.24 million people, and is causing dramatic ecological changes. As such, the decision to build the dam has been deeply controversial.
